Shoot the Book! will take place on May 17, 2016, in the Salon des Ambassadeurs (Level 4 - Palais des Festivals), at 10:30 am. It will be followed by a cocktail from 11.30 am until 12.30 pm.

 

 

For the third time in Cannes, publishers join forces to pitch 10 books selected for their adaptation potential by a jury formed of audiovisual professionals. The selected books are the following:

Naughty little girl theory by Hubert Haddad, Editions Zulma

Madame Bâ by Erik Orsenna, Editions Fayard

Bilqiss by Saphia Azzeddine, Editions Stock

Shall we dance by Anne-Laure Bondoux and Jean-Claude Mourlevat, Fleuve Editions

Fantasies and realities fuelling child trafficking in Europe by Olivier Peyroux, Editions  Non Lieu

Black Cocaïne by Laurent Guillaume, Editions Denoël

Mezek by André Juillard and Yann, Editions Le Lombard

The threads of the heart by Carole Martinez, Editions Gallimard

The honest people by Christian Durieux and Jean-Pierre Gibrat, Editions Dupuis

Once upon a time in the East by Julie Birmant and Clément Oubrerie, Editions Dargaud

Ido Abram, Deputy Director at EYE Film Museum, Netherlands, will be the moderator of the pitch session.

The pitch session will be followed by a cocktail, an opportunity for producers and publishers to exchange information and discuss the books presented.

 

After this session, on the morning of May 18 from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm, B to B meetings between French publishers and foreign producers will take place at “Cinémas du Monde” (Village International n°110).

 

Organised by SCELF (Société Civile des Editeurs de Langue Française) and BIEF (Bureau International de l’Edition Française), in partnership with the Film Commission of Ile-de-France, MOTif, Observatoire du livre et de l’écrit in Ile-de-France and the Institut Français, and with the support of SOFIA and CFC, “Shoot the Book!” is an event whose vocation is to promote the adaptation of French fiction for the cinema by presenting it to international producers.
